A lot of women are hesitant to buy good quality lingerie because they say that the lingerie does not last. This is not the case, the lingerie does last however 80% of women make one simply mistake. They use the washing machine to wash their lingerie. A washing machine is too heavy for delicate lingerie and over time the lingerie is simply not able to stand up to the strength. Here are our tips for washing lingerie and preserving its shelf life.

1 – Always look on the label for what the temperature of the water should be. It should be either cold or warm.

2 – By hand, wash the lingerie using a mild detergent

3 – If you are leaving to soak then do not soak different colors in the same bowl. The colors are likely to run.

4 – Hot water should never be used under any circumstances.

5 – Do not wring lingerie dry, instead leave it to drip dry.

6 – If you local superstore stocks it then buy detergent that is especially made for the delicate fabrics of lingerie.

Good quality lingerie also needs good storage. If you have bought an expensive corset then ensure it is keep in its wrapping whilst in the cupboard. Do not shove it in a cramped drawer with all your other lingerie. If you follow these simple tips then you will find your lingerie will not only last longer but it will look just as good as the day you bought it.

It seems that in this day and age we give too much attention to hype and gossip, anything for a good old gossip or drama. The concerns of Under wire bras are exactly that. Gossip and exaggerated stories which must not turn into valid complaints. Claims that the wire in bras contributes to cancer of the breast are not supported by scientists. Claims of infections, lacerations etc mean that the women is not suited to wearing an under wire bra, simple as that. I am not suited to wearing short mini skirts however I will not complain that because of this they should be taken off the market altogether.

Yes, an under wire can cause a security device to go off at the airport when you walk through it however so can a number of other items in your bag or on your body. As for the under wire that has been used in attacks, then this is the responsibility of the attacker not the bra. Same as a kitchen knife, do we ban the kitchen knife because of the numerous people that have used it as a weapon? No.

Also the claim that a women can be struck by lightening and the bra will burst into flames is so ridiculous and if it ever was to happen, would be one in a million chance. I really can not believe that some people take all these concerns about the under wire bra so seriously. I really do hope you are not one of them.

Christian Dior lingerie collection 2010

So Christian Dior has unveiled his lingerie collection for 2010. A good display of products with the emphasis still on the retro look with lace trims and bows. The Lingerie was mainly in the colors of blacks, purples and gave a very floaty transparent look. We only see a couple of corsets but plenty of baby dolls. Bras and pants were very hard to see over the props that Christian used. Big mistake as it took the emphasize away from the lingerie itself.

It was just unfortunate that you can spot Christian is not purely a lingerie designer. You can not help but get the feeling that the lingerie collection was an afterthought and it is easy to spot that very little effort went into originality. Perhaps he knows that he has his own base of fans already however I would prefer to see more from Christian when it comes to lingerie.

G strings from Roza

For those that are looking for lingerie that just pushes over the edge then Roza is a very good choice. Their lingerie shop is aimed at being sexy, provocative and definitely for a night in with your man. Highly recommended is their selection of g - strings and thongs. Now before you scoff at the thought of wearing a G-string or thong they are perfect for avoiding the dreaded VPL. One company that has perfected elegant lingerie is Karen Millen however they are still relatively unknown for this due to the fact that they originally started out making and selling white shirts. The current elegant lingerie collection is a smooth blend of blacks, greys and lace trims but I find there is not a wide selection to choose from and it would be nice to see them complete some more designs with the same eagerness and results that have been seen in their everyday wear clothes collections.

Karen Millen originally started out in 1981 with just 100 meters of white cotton however today the company oversees twelve designers and are known international especially for their evening wear. With shops in America, Scotland and Paris we can not help but praise Karen and her designers. However I await with anticipation for the day when their lingerie collections become a shoppers delight.

Ladies born in this current era need to be thankful as elegant lingerie in years gone by was an unknown notion. Take the corset for example, it was designed to make women appeal more to men by drawing in their waist and pushing up their breasts however it was so uncomfortable that some women used to pass out from the pain and the restrictions placed on their ribs. At one stage corsets were even made from steel!.

Overall bras and panties were not designed for elegance as ideally a man would never see you in the flesh before you were married. Once you were married then a baby was expected as soon as possible. Elegant lingerie first started being introduced in the 1930′s but even then for a while it was only considered suitable for loose women.

Thankfully we have now moved on, societies views about lingerie are more acceptable and elegant lingerie is available to purchase everywhere by women of all different shapes and sizes.
